Ridges and Gutters
Every type of roofing is naturally complemented by some characteristic elements that become an integral part of the roof. Specifically, the "gutter" refers to the first row of slabs downward. These are normally larger in size, generally measuring 60-70 x 90-100 cm. The thickness is also greater. These characteristics ensure greater stability of the roof against the weather. The opposite end of the roof is constituted by the ridge, near which the slopes are joined and must be covered with a ridge tile that can be made of slate or terracotta tiles.
The slate ridge tile is obtained from a block of varying length and is fixed using metal plates and galvanized nails to ensure the waterproofing of the hole. It is good practice to insert a lead sheet under the slate ridge tile to ensure a waterproof connection between one slope and another. Terracotta tiles, on the other hand, are placed one after the other according to their inclination and are fixed with lime mortar.
